Jul 13, 2021
Hitachi Zosen Inova AG (HZI), based in Switzerland and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi Zosen Corporation, specialized in the design, construction, and maintenance of Energy-from-Waste(EfW) plants, has signed an agreement with a German-based Viessmann Industriesysteme GmbH (Hessen, Eder) to acquire all shares of Schmack Biogas Service GmbH (SBS) and microbEnergy GmbH (ME), that are engaged in the biogas business owned by Schmack Group affiliated to Viessmann.
HZI entered the biogas business in 2014, and owns Kompogas® technology which is dry anaerobic digestion (methane fermentation). HZI has 100 Kompogas® reference plants (including those under construction) in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and North America, and has been working to strengthen its operations and maintenance businesses. Acquiring SBS that is engaged in operation and maintenance and ME that is engaged in R&D in the power to gas technology will enable HZI to comprehensively provide design, construction, operation and maintenance for both dry and wet-type biogas technologies.
In addition, Hitachi Zosen Inova BioMethan GmbH, owns biogas purification technologies to remove CO2, etc. and provide purified biogas, which has been already in use for household supplies and automotive fuels in Europe. It has 100+ reference projects.
Our group has been developing EfW plants EPC and operation globally and contributing to SDGs through sanitary waste treatment and power generation. On top of that, our group has long been engaged in new technologies such as biogas and methanation, which have attracted attention in recent years. As the leading company in this field, biogas business aims to contribute to SDGs.
