Orders received for Energy-from-Waste plant equipments for Emmenspitz, Switzerland
Feb 12, 2020
Hitachi Zosen Inova AG (HZI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Zosen Corporation, that designs, constructs, and provides services for Energy-from-Waste(EfW) plants, received an order from KEBAG AG (Switzerland) for EfW plant equipments (stoker type incinerator: 221,000 t/year).
With the aging of the existing EfW plant (stoker type incinerator: 221,000 t/year) in Emmenspitz, a new plant will be constructed at the site adjacent to the existing one. HZI is responsible for the design and supply of main equipments such as grates, boilers, and flue gas treatment equipment, as well as the dispatch of supervisors during installation and commissioning period.
The existing plant was delivered by HZI in 1976, and has hygienically treated wastes from approximately 510,000 people living in 184 municipalities in Bern and Solothurn over 40 years, which is scheduled to be dismantled after completion of the new plant.
Switzerland is advanced in the incineration disposal, when HZI has a total of 〇〇Efw plants. In Switzerland, as in Japan, EfW plants became more popular at an early date, and many plants are now aging. In the future, we expect demand for rebuilding/upgrading plants. In recent years, HZI has strengthened its service business. By leveraging the characteristics of a domestic Swiss company, HZI will strengthen its service business by extending rebuilding/upgrading plants and selling parts. At the same time, HZI will expand its service business in other countries where it has a record of delivering products.
Our group supplies approximately 1,000 EfW plants worldwide. We are expanding our operations globally not only in Japan and Europe, but also in Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, where demand is increasing. We intend to solve global environmental problems by promoting the use of renewable energy through spreading of Efw plants.
The outline of this case is as follows.
- 1Client: KEBAG AG
(A total of 135 municipalities in Bern and Zoroturn wholly owned companies) - 2Construction site: Emmenshpits, Solothurn, Switzerland
- 3Capacity: Stoker type incinerator: 221,000 t/year
