Order Received to Build and Install Equipment for Energy-from-Waste Plant in Rayong Province, Thailand

Jul 03, 2019

Hitachi Zosen Corporation has recently received an order from Jurong Engineering Limited (Singapore, hereinafter JEL) to build and install a stoker type waste incinerator (1 unit, 300 tons /day, power output: 9.8MW), in Energy-from-Waste plant which will be built in Rayong Province, Thailand.

The construction of an Energy-from-Waste plant was planned by the Thai power generation corporation Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (Bangkok, hereinafter GPSC). The consortium formed by JEL and its subsidiary Thai Jurong Engineering Limited (Bangkok) have signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with GPSC. We received an order from JEL for the design of the stoker, which is the main installation of the Energy-from-Waste plant, and the exhaust gas treatment equipment, equipment supply and supervisor dispatch (technology instruction service) during installation and commissioning.

This plant will be built next to the RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) production plant in Amphur Mueang, Rayong Province. The produced RDF will be used as fuel for the incinerator power generation. The plant power output 9.8MW can cover energy consumption for approximately 6,700 households in Thailand.

In recent years, rapid economic growth has caused an increase in waste in Thailand. Along with the increase of Environmental awareness, demand for Energy-from-Waste plants has grown as alternative waste disposal method of landfill. In addition, use of RDF started to be popular recently in production from landfill waste, and use as fuel for cement manufacturing.

The demand for Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plants is increasing in China, India and Southeast Asia as it is a sanitary waste disposal method and generates power. Our group has built approximately 1,000 plants in Energy-from-Waste plants both in Japan and overseas. We will continue promoting proactively to popularize Energy-from-Waste plants for further introduction of renewable energy.
