Orders Received for Construction, Operation, and Maintenance of 74.8 MW Woody Biomass Power Generation Plant
Apr 26, 2019
Hitachi Zosen Corporation has received an order for a woody biomass power generation plant from Tokushima Tsuda Biomass Power Plant GK,*1 a joint venture with Taisei Corporation (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. President: Yoshiyuki Murata). Hitachi Zosen will principally supply, install, and conduct trial operations of power generation equipment. This high-efficiency equipment, which uses a reheating method*2 with woody pellets as its main fuel, is composes of a Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler (made by ANDRITZ) and a reheat-recycle steam turbine, and has a power generation capacity of 74.8 MW.
We have also received an order for the operation and maintenance of this equipment over a 20-year span in a joint venture with Hitz Environment Service, a Hitachi Zosen Group company. We can provide unified service from power generation equipment construction to operation and maintenance, allowing stable, high-efficiency power generation.
- *1Tokushima Tsuda Biomass Power Plant GK is a Special Purpose Company with ownership interest from RENOVA, Inc. (36.1%), Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (33.5%), NEC Capital Solutions Limited. (12.35%), Mitsubishi Electric Credit Corporation (12.35%), Genboku Co., Ltd. (1.90%), Dairi Lumber Co., Ltd. (1.90%), and Tokushima Denki Sangyo Co., Ltd. (1.90%). (Ownership interest in parentheses)
- *2The reheating method is a technology that allows steam that has been expanded by a steam turbine to be returned to the steam turbine after being reheated, making for more efficient power generation.

Future prospects
The Hitachi Zosen Group has been putting more and more efforts into its biomass power generation business in recent years. As a business, we have started operation of the Miyanosato Woody Biomass Power Generation Plant (Hitachiota City, Ibaraki Prefecture) in 2015, and the Akita Biogas Power Station (Akita City, Akita Prefecture) in 2017. We intend to continue working to spread renewable energy such as biomass power generation, contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the realization of a low-carbon society.
