Mar 25, 2019
Hitachi Zosen has been selected as one of the FY2018 New Diversity Management Selection 100 by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Why Hitachi Zosen was chosen
The Hitachi Zosen Group is promoting diversity management as part of its management strategy to ensure long-term growth globally. The company aims to create new value and strengthen the overall power of the Group by carrying out corporate activities proactively, emphasizing the diverse range of values of its employees. As part of this, it has been actively engaged in eight separate categories under the banner of "Our goal for diversity management": Organizations and Corporate Culture, Work Styles, Gender, Nationality, Age, Child-rearing, Long-Term Care, and Disabilities. Hitachi Zosen's efforts to create a workplace where a diverse range of people could fulfill their potential led to this award.
Promoting diversity management and work style reforms
Hitachi Zosen positioned FY2018 as its "Year One for Work Style Reforms," and has introduced work-from-home systems, satellite offices, company-wide intensive times, and other initiatives, as well as "Smart & Easy Style," which allows employees to wear what they want, in principle, as part of the reforms to corporate culture. Hitachi Zosen has also been selected as an "Eruboshi" Certified Company (Grade 2) and as a "Kurumin" Certified Company.
Hitachi Zosen will continue to strive to create a comfortable work environment where a diverse range of employees can reach their full potential, increase productivity, and promote diversity management and work style reforms. The company will create innovation by having each and every employee work together by respecting each other's values, whatever their position, and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
About the New Diversity Management Selection 100
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has established a ministerial award called the "New Diversity Management Selection 100" with the aim of widely introducing cutting-edge initiatives of companies that link diversity promotion to business results and expanding the number of companies engaged in these activities. Since FY2017, companies engaged in "Diversity 2.0" have been selected as the "Selection 100 Prime" to enhance initiatives for the ongoing creation of corporate value in a more medium to long term, based on the Diversity 2.0 Actions Guidelines.
